Each month we run a meal share at the two “Sanctuaries” run by Baptcare, which are the current homes of some local refugees and people seeking asylum.
One is in Brunswick on the third Tuesday of the month and the other is at Preston on the fourth Thursday of the month. 6pm until around 7.30pm.
Everyone brings a long a plate of food and we share conversations and a laugh with the guys living there.
Crossing Borders’ shared meal program was established to encourage asylum seekers in the community to develop stronger connections and support networks within their area of living, and also to increase public awareness about the issues facing this population.
Coming up in October is a bushwalk with Gareth from Baptcare and a few of the guys from each site.
Below we have some art work created by the guys at their art class, which translations of
“sancturary” into their home language.
