Letter to MPs

The findings of the Australian Human Rights Commission’s National Inquiry into Children in Immigration Detention have unequivocally demonstrated that prolonged indefinite immigration detention is inherently detrimental to the health, wellbeing and development of children.

The Australian Government’s commitment to releasing children and their families from detention is welcome but political promises are not enough. We need legal protections to safeguard children against the harm caused by prolonged indefinite detention.

We have developed a sample letter which you can adapt to send to your representatives in the Australian Parliament. We have also added a list of MPs contact information.

Help advocate for children in detention!
